The bible says: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." The Bible presents powerful model of human dignity. Humans were created in the image and likeness of God. Each human life is considered sacred. This theme is about our radical equality before God that leads us to think no less of somebody because they are from a different place or culture, because they believe something different to you, or because of their work or employment situation. Everyone deserves to be treated equal and with human dignity regardless of their age, race, colour, sex, language, religion, opinions or nationality.
Respect for Human dignity came from the beginning of the bible when it says: Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
At Carmel college we respect every individual no matter what they look like, where they come from or their interests. Everyone is special in their own way and everyones opinions are counted without being right or wrong. Human dignity is something that can't be taken away. Catholic Social Teaching states that each and every person has value, are worthy of great respect and must be free from slavery, manipulation and exploitation.
Respecting people and their dignity is important because everyone one deserves to be respected and able to be themselves.
Remember to respect everyone for who they are because God made all of use and loves all of us!
